A recent article in Forbes Magazine discusses the benefits of problem-based and active learning.  The article mentions that the basic ingredients of problem-based learning are that students work together to solve real-life problems or answer questions, using available information to come up with solutions.  This is different than traditional instruction where teachers explain a concept and then students practice or memorize it.  At TIA, our learners work together to complete real-world challenges on their own and participate in Socratic discussions.
